Today's picture/reading chair

Just the place to be on a cool, rainy, dark November day after Thanksgiving.

  1. It's a perfect day for reading! I'm avoiding the stores today. Just finished a book (North River by Pete Hamill) and am getting ready to host the 'leftovers feast'. Enjoy your time with Agatha Christie.

  2. Love it! One of the best things about having a new baby is sitting in a comfy rocking chair with my baby and a book.

  3. I would love to be able to curl up in a chair with a book today. I have to work. UGH.. it is sort of fun though. Serious shoppers and people out roaming around with friends. Most people are just out to enjoy the day it seems.

  4. Lisa, I'd enjoy being out shopping, too! I don't mind crowds and I love hearing the Christmas music.

Jeanette, what a lovely image. I can still 'feel' my babies in my arms though they are in their twenties now!

K, and spring and summer and fall! :<)

JoAnn, I was interested in your excerpt and look forward to the review. I tried one of his years ago and didn't like it.

  5. Looks perfect! You just need somewhere to put your feet on.

  6. Danielle, I have two options - one is a hassock you can just barely see to the right in the 'at this moment' post, and the other is a little wooden stool.

  7. I love this photo. It looks so cozy and inviting. Great fabric on that chair!

I was at work on Friday and it was so nice to finally hear some Christmas music. The store was busy, but not too terribly crowded. Rod had his book signing, so I wandered up to the front of the store to say hello on several occasions. He was enjoying himself, chatting with Ted Kooser, who was also there to sign his new memoir.

  8. Hangin' with the swells, Les! :<) All my chairs have that same sort of brocade- forties-looking fabric. I really like it. December 1 I'll put on my first Christmas album; always George Winston's December.

  9. December is one of my all-time favorite albums and I started playing it on December 1st many years ago, probably after feeling inspired to do so after hearing learning of your tradition. :)
