Quitting challenges

I withdrew from both these challenges. I've written to the women who created them to let them know. I've found my life to be a bit busier than I expected when I signed up, plus some long-awaited books have come in at the library and I want to read them.

  1. I applaud your doing this, Nan. I took up the 2007 TBR Challenge, and it is quickly falling into that "seemed like a good idea at the time" category. While I fully intend to read the twelve books I pulled from my shelves, I'm not sure I can keep up with the hundreds of emails and rules this challenge is generating.

I should remember to uphold the only reading goal I can live with (to read what I want when I want) and then hope that as 2007 closes I will find that I have indeed completed the 2007 TBR Challenge.

  2. Oh, I love that - "read what I want when I want!" That is exactly how I feel. This is why I'm not involved in book discussion groups. I took up these challenges because they involved books I already own, but still it just felt like something I "had" to do. I'd be reading a monthly challenge book, a book would come in at the library, and I had to decide between them. There's only so much time. I wasn't on the yahoo group so I didn't have the emails.

  3. Sometimes, you just want to read what you want to read when you want to read it!! Know what I mean????
